Registered Charity No. 273874
Regimental Museum Fund
The fund was created with the intention of holding together the traditions of the Regiment and to perpetuate its deeds and to this end the Trustees hold the contents of the Museum and any future acquisitions thereto upon trust, and may apply any part of the funds at their disposal to the purchase of additional exhibits and to the discharge of any expenses incurred in connection with the Trust. They also have power to invest any funds in such securities as they think fit. They may not dispose of any items not required without going through the due process specified in the Trust Deed.
The fund is divided into two parts. The "A" Fund to assist with the general expenses of the Museum and the "B" Fund to provide for the purchase of further exhibits as they become available.
The Trust is funded by subscriptions from members, past and present, of the Regiment and from grants and other money received.
Regimental Benevolent Fund
The QDG Benevolent Fund provides help to serving soldiers and ex-soldiers of the Regiment, and their families, when they are in real need and where state assistance is inadequate. Many requests for help come through the case work of SSAFA. The Army Benevolent Fund provides additional financial support when requested.
Income for the QDG Benevolent Fund comes almost entirely from the One Day's Pay Scheme of serving members of the Regiment and the investment of capital.
During the last financial year the fund assisted 79 old comrades of KDG, Bays & QDG at a cost of £24,732 (1999 £17,743), also it provided Christmas hampers to several deserving cases and helped with winter fuel bills.
The Regimental Trust Fund
The QDG Regimental Trust Fund has its origins in the Draffen Harmen Trust which itself was formed just after the amalgamation of the two regiments, to some extent at the initiative of Col. Tom Draffen and Gen Sir Jackie Harman.
The Draffen Harman Trust had as its main aim the preservation of Regimental assets such as pictures and silver but, on the formation of the QDG Regimental Trust, the objects were widened so that anything of real benefit which promoted the overall efficiency of the Regiment in its widest sense was covered by the objects clause. However, the preservation of Regimental assets remain the primary aim.
Income is derived from covenants and donations from past and present members of the Regiment and, more recently, funds have been retained for investment purposes with a view to building up a reasonable amount of capital.
Grants are made regularly for use in various aspects of Regimental life and within the Regimental Recruiting Area.
