The Museum is now closed for conservation and refurbishment.
Work has now started on the visitor reception building where it is hoped the Regimental Museum will eventually be housed. The first phase of the planned building has taken the form of Archaeological digs on the 2,000 year old site. So far some interesting Roman artefacts have been found and are on display in a designated area within the castle for the public to view. With the first phase now completed work has started in ernest on the new building as you can see from the accompanying picture taken 31st January 07

The excavation of the site is due to be completed by February 2006, the serious business of building the new centre will then begin, and initial information is that it will take approximately twelve to fourteen months to complete. It was estimated that we could being the fit out around June/July 07 however due to unforeseen circumstances this has now been put on hold. We will keep you updated as things progress.,
