Regimental Research

Although we have a good reference library for Cavalry Regiments we deal primarily with soldiers who have served in the 1st King's Dragoon Guards, Queen's Bays (2nd Dragoon Guards) and 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards. We can however supply limited information on other cavalry regiments. In the event of not being able to answer your query we can point you in the direction where answers can be found.  We recommend to start your search you visit The Army Ogilby Trust at this address http://www.armymuseums.co.uk/trust.htm

For researching soldiers who served in World War One and earlier we recommend that you read:

PRO Guide No 2 by Simon Fowler 'Army Records for the Family Historian.

PRO Guide No 19 by Simon Fowler, William Spencer and Stuart Tamblin. 'Army Service Records of the First World War'

These books are available from the Public Records Office, Kew, Surrey, TW9 4DU

Web Site: http://www.pro.gov.uk/

Bookshop: bookshop@pro.gov.uk

For soldiers killed during World Wars One and Two, grave or memorial details are available on the Internet from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission at:
