With close links to Bovington Camp this gives the branch the perfect opportunity to keep contact with serving soldiers on posting as well as the many veterans who work on camp or have settled in Dorset and the surrounding counties.

The branch’s main event each year is a BBQ held on the last weekend in June which is the Annual Tankfest weekend at the Tank Museum. Attracting 30 or more members of the regimental family each year from former CO’s and RSMs to serving soldiers and officers with their families. Hosted at the home of the Branch Secretary in Bovington it is an ideal opportunity to pull up a sandbag and talk about old times and for those of you who miss the smell of diesel fumes you can visit the Tankfest.

With close links to the Bovington RBL branch and club the Wessex Branch is ideally placed to help arrange reunions for those of you who started your career in the JLR RAC or worked at one of the schools in Bovington or Lulworth.

Branch Secretary: Mr Neil (Chuck) Berryman

Sandbaggers have been set up with touring in mind. The members each have their own motorhome or caravan which are taken to nominated campsites/fields for the sole purpose of maintaining the social gathering. For those less fortunate not to own a unit will not stop you from attending as between us we can certainly come up with a plan to accommodate you. There is always room at the Inn!
